Greatest sporting event ever in Bergen

The UCI Road World Championships is the cycling's annual world greatest sporting event. To be UCI World Champion and wear the coveted UCI rainbow jersey is something every cyclist dream of.

The UCI Road World Championships is a yearly event, and this year it takes place in Bergen, Norway from 16 to 24 September. Bergen is now gearing up to welcome all the cycling stars, and the city is looking forward to this great event.

The Norwegian Cycling Federation (NCF) is proud once more be hosting the biggest international cycling event – the UCI Road World Championships. This will be the second time in the history of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) that Norway is host country.

Bergen and the region offer spectacular courses surrounded by fjords, mountains and beautiful scenery that one only finds in Norway. The courses present the riders with varied and different challenges, and guarantee action and viewable races for the worldwide audience. The courses run through the core of Bergen, with the historic backdrop of the old royal hall, Haakonshallen, and the UNESCO World Heritage site, Bryggen.

The event features 12 races over 9 days, several cyclosportive events and a major cultural programme. There are three diciplines; Team Time Trial for the professional UCI Teams, individual Time Trials and finally the Road Races.

A championship for the whole region

Bergen was chosen as the Norwegian Candidate Host City in 2011, and since then the NCF, the City of Bergen, Hordaland County Council and the neighbour municipalities of Askøy, Fjell, Sund and Øygarden have worked together to host this fantastic event.

Bergen 2017 is the NCF’s organization responsible for planning and organizing the UCI Road World Championships in Bergen, Norway 2017 in close collaboration with the UCI.
