New magazine shows off Norway’s shipping success

Western Norway’s shipping industry is being celebrated in a new online magazine.

The publication focuses on the latest exciting trends within the region, such as the move towards clean energy and greater digitalization.

The magazine, “The Future of Shipping – Lessons from Norway”, was created by local organizations Maritime Bergen, NCE Maritime CleanTech and Invest in Bergen.

It features stories about futuristic ferries, cleaner cruise ships, as well as the digital revolution on the high seas.

The common thread running through all of these pieces is the region’s willingness to work together to overcome the major challenges in the shipping industry.

Made in western Norway

The magazine describes how the maritime sector is facing a number of headwinds.

This includes the need to adapt to new technology, as well as to cut carbon emissions.

Companies in western Norway are now coming together with researchers and the public sector in order to respond to these challenges.

Norled, a company from western Norway, is building the world’s first passenger ferry to run on liquid hydrogen.

Elsewhere, large shipping companies are using blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), to change the way cargo is transported around the world.

Overall, the magazine shows how Norway’s west coast is a hotspot for shipping innovation.
